Inspired by a line from a poem by Mr. Changjian, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, which states "the light of mountains pleases the birds, the lakes purify human souls," designers Alan Chan and Alice Deng embarked on a journey to create a space that embodies this sentiment. By incorporating elements from the past, the Mountain Villa exudes a timeless charm that only grows more captivating with time, achieving a perfect harmony between culture, art, and life.
One of the unique features of the Mountain Villa is its emphasis on functional division through flowing lines. Each space within the mansion is carefully separated to fulfill its specific purpose, resulting in an elegant and refined living environment that caters to the needs and desires of the residents. To further enhance the emotional connection between the space and its inhabitants, the designers have incorporated shelves throughout the villa, providing a place to display cherished collectibles and personal treasures.
With a total area of 863 square meters, the Mountain Villa stands as a testament to the designers' commitment to creating a living space that goes beyond fulfilling basic needs. It serves as a canvas for life experiences, interests, and hobbies, offering a diverse range of expressions and meeting the demands of modern society.
The Mountain Villa project commenced in 2016 in Guangzhou and was completed in April 2017. Its exceptional design and meticulous attention to detail earned it the prestigious JIN TENG AWARD for The Best Sample Space (Villa). This recognition further solidifies the Mountain Villa's status as a remarkable example of oriental culture and a haven of tranquility.
The Mountain Villa faced various creative, technical, and research challenges. The designers aimed to create a living space that not only met the diverse needs of its residents but also satisfied the high social demands for a modern living environment. Through their innovative approach and unwavering dedication, Alan Chan and Alice Deng successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a design that seamlessly blends form and function.
The Mountain Villa has garnered numerous accolades, including the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness exhibited in the design. By incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, the Mountain Villa contributes to the improvement of quality of life, making the world a better place.
